Mentor

What makes a great mentor?

Do you think you can make a difference to someone else’s career?

The most impactful mentors are often those who are curious, eager to learn not just about their mentee, but also about themselves. A great mentor brings more than experience; they bring intention. They listen actively, ask thoughtful questions, and tailor their guidance to support the mentee’s goals. They provide honest, constructive feedback while creating a supportive environment where ideas can be explored and confidence can grow.

Mentoring is also a powerful opportunity for your own development. It strengthens your leadership, communication, and ability to inspire others, while encouraging reflection on your own career journey. Along the way, you stay connected to emerging trends, fresh perspectives, and evolving workplace cultures. Most importantly, it’s a meaningful way to give back – by sharing your knowledge, you’re supporting the next generation, and contributing to the future of your industry.

Mentee

What does a good mentee look like?

How will I get the most out of this experience?

Connecting with a mentor is a powerful step toward expanding your skills and gaining valuable industry insight. Learning from someone with experience can accelerate your growth and help turn hard work into meaningful progress. but to truly benefit, it’s important to bring the right mindset. A great mentee is proactive, self-aware, and open to learning. They reflect on their strengths and areas for development, embrace new perspectives, and stay motivated and purposeful about what they want to achieve.

Strong mentees are also respectful, engaged, and willing to act. They value their mentor’s time and expertise, listen carefully, and are receptive to feedback, even when it challenges them. By staying organised, present, and open to new ideas, they take ownership of the relationship and treat it as a two-way partnership, making the most of every opportunity to grow.
